  • One hundred and sixty Agriculture students from the 'ambitious' Karima Girls High School visited Egerton University from 24-26 May 2022 on a learning tour. Five of the teachers accompanying them, including their Deputy Headteacher Josephine Mugwe, were Egerton University Alumni.

  • The Faculty of Science together with the Directorate of International Linkages & Career Services (IL&CS) organized a students’ career development seminar at Main Campus in Njoro. The one – day seminar titled “Future Ready Career” took place on 25 May 2022 at the Physical Science Complex and was facilitated by Mr Lameck Mito a Business Development Officer from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) – Kenya.

  • The Faculty of Law on Thursday May 26 held a candle lighting session in honor of one of their students who perished in a road accident. Godfrey Otunga met his death in the early hours of Sunday May 22 when a motor bike he was being ridden was involved in a head on collision with a saloon car in his home area in Trans Nzoia County. 

  • Egerton University, Moi University, and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science & Technology (JOOUST) jointly signed a General Agreement for Cooperation with the University for Development Studies in Tamale, Ghana on 27 May 2022. The Agreement will allow joint capacity building, research and innovation among the four institutions of higher learning.

  • Egerton University has participated in career fairs organized for universities, technical and vocational education and training (TVETs) institutions in ramped up efforts to recruit students. The latest one that the University participated in was the 6th Annual Universities, Polytechnics, Institutes and Colleges Admission Day on 27 May 2022. The event was organized by the Suba Education Resource Centre at Magunga Primary School in Homa Bay County.

  • Egerton University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kibwage, on Tuesday, 31 May 2022, presided over the swearing-in of newly elected Egerton University Student Association (EUSA) officials at Main Campus in Njoro.

  • The Vice-Chancellor of Egerton University appointed Professor Ali Salim Islam as the Chairman of the Integrity Promotion Committee (IPC) effective 23 March 2022 for a period of three years. Prof. Salim is an Associate Professor of Statistics in the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Science.

  • Researchers from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU) and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) paid a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor on 7th June 2022 at Main Campus in Njoro.

  • Faculty members from Virginia Tech University, USA, on 13th June 2022, paid a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor Professor Isaac Kibwage at Main Campus in Njoro.

  • Egerton University shines in the 2022 global ISCES Awards Under the category 'Circular Economy'. In the event that took place during the International Student Conference on Enviroment and sustainability our Civil and Enviromental Engineering (CEEN) students came in 2nd with a proposal to solve food waste.

  • It is now official. Egerton University has won the bid to host the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) Regional Research Centre (RRC), and it isthe first of such a centre in sub-Saharan Africa.

  • Egerton University and Bowie State University, USA, launched the 2022  Research and Extension Experience for Undergraduates at Main Campus in Njoro on 8th June 2022.

  • Scientific research is essential for the advancement of science and humanity at large. It is not only an engine for the generation of new knowledge but also offers a lens through which current practices can be examined. Through constant inquisitions and scientific research, what is currently good and acceptable can be made better.

  • Kenya has been selected by the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) Board of Governors to host its first Regional Research Centre (RRC) in Africa, to complement the one in China.

  • Egerton University is partnering with Wageningen University (the Netherlands) to implement the REFOOTURE project in Kenya. REFOOTURE, an acronym for Regenerative Food and Future, is funded by the IKEA Foundation. It is mobilising innovation capacity and strengthening the enabling environment through living labs in East African countries of Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda.

  • Faculty members from Staffordshire University in the United Kingdom, Tim Davies and Joseph Natalello, paid a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor om 22nd June 2022 at Main Campus in Njoro. They were accompanied by staff members from the Faculty of Health Sciences.

  • Sorghum bread has excited bread consumers in Nakuru town following the introduction of the product in the market. The bread is baked using composite flour of sorghum and wheat at some ideal ratios. It is not just any sorghum but some special cultivar developed and evaluated at Egerton University by a team of scientists led by Prof. Erick Cheruiyot. It is a product of a concept developed by the team and supported by the then Kenya Agricultural and Agribusiness Project (KAPAP), financed by the World Bank in 2011.

  • Senior members from the Ministry of Education on Friday 24th June 2022 were at Main Campus in Njoro for the Africa Higher Education Centre of Excellence (ACE) National Steering Committee meeting.
